Hanesbrands is one of the leading apparel companies in the United States. Our products can be found in 8 out of 10 households. Our major customers are mass and department store retailers. Hanesbrands has an extensive product offering that consists of over 100,000 SKUs, today. Forecasting is really important for us, because most of the retailers order, generally, as the product sells at retail. So, having the right product, in the right place, at the right time, is absolutely critical for the profitability and the success of our business. And, the way to do it is, really, leveraging that real-time POS data.

Hanesbrands reviewed several options for a point-of-sale management solution. VELOCITY provided us with a platform enabling us to consolidate retailer point-of-sale data. Microsoft provided us the expertise to implement the infrastructure enabling the VELOCITY solution.

Retail VELOCITY&Rsquo;s VELOCITY solution suite provides our clients with the ability to analyze and bring in retailer data from over 400 different retailers and distributors and integrate that data into their ERP system, so they, actually, have a full, factory-to-shelf view of their product performance.

VMT is a Microsoft-certified Gold Partner, and we are committed to the microsoft BI platform. What we used at Hanes® was Microsoft SQL Server, Sharepoint, PerformancePoint Server, and Excel pivot services. What we focused on was to provide them with something that they're familiar with, they understand how to use, and can be easily implemented. Everybody in the organization can use VELOCITY as being that single source of all their information at retail.

Something that we have new in our system is the capability to report both in packages and in units. Before, there was no way, or it was very hard, to get to that level of detail. Now, with a click of a button, we can see changes year-over-year for packages, or for units, or for dollars. That has never been available before.

VELOCITY has made the data extraction much faster. We had one project that, literally, took me eight to nine weeks to get data that I needed to do the modeling. I can now get it within a day or two.

By leveraging the data that we get from VELOCITY, we've been able to do some analytics that tell us the effectiveness of some of our promotion and advertising. So, we are getting much smarter with how we spend our money and, therefore, increasing the return on investment. The ability for our marketing and sales teams to more effectively utilize point-of-sale data, quality point-of-sale data, has been absolutely key. The insight, that they now have, has been able to provide us with key decision-making.
