Marshalls POS Data, TJXVendors, EDI 852
A subsidiary of TJX Companies, Marshalls negotiates with over 10,000 vendors in over 60 countries to provide high quality merchandise for steeply discounted prices. Marshalls has locations in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Marshalls is the US's second largest off-price family apparel and home fashion retailer, behind its sister company TJ Maxx. Marshalls operates in 42 US states and Puerto Rico. Founded in 1956 by Alfred Marshall and others, the company found a profitable way to sell in the post WWII phenomena of a boom in the economy and a growth in the suburbs. In 1976, Marshalls was acquired by Melville Corporation (owner of CVS), and experienced tremendous growth from 1977 into the 1980s. In 1995, Marshalls was purchased by TJX, the parent company of its main rival at the time, TJ Maxx, for $606 million.
